FINAL SPEECH PAGE

MY BEST ADVICE:

The best advice I think I offered to my peers were that we’re all in this together. We are all in the same boat, so speak up. Tell the audience what you want to say. because you’ve got this!

WHY IT’S MY BEST ADVICE:

I think this is my best advice because sometimes people need a little push of encouragement. I know that they are all more than capable of giving a great speech if their nerves weren’t in the way. So, I like to remind them that we’re all in this together.

BEST ADVICE FROM MY PEERS:

Overall, the best advice from my peers was a range of things. It was always as the right time, I would be worried about moving too much, or not making enough eye contact, but there was always at least one person who said I did good at the big thing I was stressing over. Which always made me feel really good. The best advice I got was after my last speech, saying I spoke much more clear and confident. which was really the greatest thing to hear because I’ve been working on it all semester.

WHY IT’S THEIR BEST ADVICE:

This is their best advice because without it I wouldn’t have been able to be building confidence this whole time so I could accomplish what I had been working on. Them telling me I did good at something I thought needed work on really helped me stop being so hard on myself, therefore being able to work on my bigger problems and present better speeches.

BIG REFLECTIVE MOMENTS:

From Speech Three: Although I think I did convey the message I was hoping to to the audience, a lot of the feedback said things like-we needs more people like your cousin in this world, that I showed her good qualities about her, and that I had good content/stories. Also something else that I am proud of is my voice being louder. A lot of my feedback that was what I’ve improved on through the speeches was that my voice has gotten more clear and confident.

WHY THESE REFLECTIVE MOMENTS MATTER:

These reflective moments are so important to me because I was so worried that I wouldn’t be able to convey my message to the audience in speech three because none of them knew Jade, but the responses were wonderful, really making me feel good since I wanted everyone to understand how great she really is. Also I have been working on keeping my voice louder and more easily understood for the whole semester, so it made me really happy to get the feedback that my voice was at a good tone, instead of the usual things to work on.

MY BIGGEST STRIDES:

The speech where I saw the most improvement from the dry-run to the actual speech would have to be my speech three “teaching a skill”. In my dry-run I was very flustered, you could tell I didn’t know how to juggle the prop and the speech (literally). I decided to focus on the speech itself for the real thing, because dropping the balls was almost inevitable and I needed to focus on the important parts of the speech rather than messing up the juggling. When I focused on the important part of my speech and practicing the context of it, I was able to present a good content speech so I could focus on my skill.
